National Voter Registration Day: Pre-Registration Ends Oct. 16th

September 25, 2012

On National Voter Registration Day, I’m reminded how much every vote counts. In Minnesota, we’re not just electing candidates for national, state and local offices, we’re deciding whether to add two amendments to our Constitution. I will write more about the amendments later, but first, you must be registered to vote!

Minnesota does have same-day registration, but pre-registration (by the October 16th deadline) saves you time on election day. Check out www.mnvotes.org to see whether you’re registered at your current address. You will also find a host of information about the elections, including sample ballots, the full text of the proposed constitutional amendments, how to vote absentee, your rights on election day (getting time off from work, assistance with voting, etc.) and more.

Voting is important because it’s our opportunity to make our voices heard. Make sure you can be heard — LOUDLY — on November 6th.
